Our tips to mix a great old fashioned...
Posted by Rachel Davis on 2nd Sep 2020
Anybody can make an old fashioned, but there’s a couple of tricks to the trade of creating a great one! The list of bourbons that could be used in an old fashioned is extensive… so we’ll keep it simple! Our favourite is Woodford Reserve, giving a smooth and balanced flavour; but a bourbon you can sip is essential! Bitters is a key ingredient, and it’s up to your taste buds to let you know which and how much to dash on the sugar cube! Muddle that into a syrupy goodness. Serve this drink on ice, steering clear of crushed ice. Stir, NOT SHAKE (come on, we’re not making margaritas anymore) as you don’t want a diluted drink after all your hard work! Last but not least, flame some orange peel expressing the oil into the glass. Rim the glass with the peel and drop it in. We can’t give away all our secrets, but stay posted for upcoming tips. Let us know if you have a drink at home that you cannot quite perfect and share your creations with us via our socials @mangoloungebar.
