Our passion for music - especially for vinyl

Posted by Dan Semkiw on 22nd Mar 2012

Dear children of the beat,

Recently Mango has playing hostess to some of more renowned and and yet cool DJ’s around the ol’ Melbourne town. From the grumpy yet salubrius electronix of ‘Not Happy Jan,’ to the Liverpudlean with the mod-soul mostest Vince Peach, to the lost Italo-disco classics of ‘Dr. Hysteric’, to Chicago, disco, and just proper house stylings of ‘Mr Pickles’, to the regular craziness from our regular man not quite in control of the controls ‘D’Operator’ plus many more. There are regular guests especially on our flagship Friday nights but also on Saturdays, Sundays and Thursdays.

Our music policy is to keep an eye to the underground, keep it easy to listen to, keep it off the mainstream radio, and keep it on VINYL! That’s right kids pure analogue sound. Music that you can dance to, or lounge to that ‘fully’ covers all audible frequencies – no gaps! You see, we love music at Mango; so we strive to present something fresh night after night (as we have now for some ten years) and not just play the same old Cafe Del Mar CD or shitty pop musak over and over again, like so many bars and cafes do.

Over coming months expect to see more guest DJ’s side by side with our stalwarts like D’Operator and Mr.Pickles. So as the fruit comes into season in our famous daiquiris in the months ahead, so can you as you enjoy refreshing tunes our DJ’s showcase weekly; in the little bar in the backstreets of Moonee Ponds.

Peace
